I've been using Lutterloh for about 1-2 years now, and having the book really helps in deciphering some pattern questions. I never really knew where to draw in my notches and the book explained that. I can definitely recommend this book.

I like how this book will take me to the next step with Lutterloh. But you have to reduce the shipping fee. It is unreasonably high!!

Nice book
Great little instruction book
This little book has SO much information in it. From how to draft the pattern from the small templates in the supplements, to working out the amount of fabric required for the project, construction advice and an extensive glossary of sewing terms. Unfortunately, my sewing has been put on hold for a few weeks but I shall be better prepared when I get back to it as I have read this little book from cover to cover at least 3 times! It is a great addition to the Lutterloh System and I can't wait to get back to my sewing soon! I highly recommend this book to anyone who has the Lutterloh System and is unsure of how to progress without guidance.
Resources are a wonderful thing to have. This book is very informative and should be very helpful with my future projects . I would highly recommend this book if one is confused or needs a great reference book
A useful addition
It is a great help referance tool. I have been sewing professionally for over 60 years so it is nothing new to me. I have used the Lutterlough system since the late 60's and enjoy making most of my own patterns. The pattern system is great. I took the book and had it coil bound to make it easier to use.
I ordered the lutterloh book. It is very informative & will be useful when sewing a garment.
Easy to read and invaluable help
I am quite new to dress making and the ruler has been a great help. It's made measuring easier and I have been very happy with the garment fit.
This fills in so many of the gaps between being able to draft a pattern and make the finish garment - wonderful xx

The pattern drafting and sewing sections are great, everything you need to know about the system and constructing your garment is clearly explained. I gave 4 stars, because I think more fitting issues should be adressed. Only sleeve cap ease and waist/hip circumference is mentioned.
I’m so glad I got this. It is well written and explains a lot. I was not clear about.
I’m an experienced sewist and have owed the system for many years. I just wanted to see how they integrated together. It is helpful for those who have limited experience in sewing.
This is just the book I needed for my lutterloh kit. It has the instructions for creating the patterns but it also has general sewing instruction. It shows how to sew a blouse, add a sleeve, sew pants, etc. Being a confident beginner, it is just what I needed.
Its the final piece of the jigsaw for me and makes using the system so much easier without having to look through sewing books or online for construction techniques.
Good explanation of how to amend the patterns once drafted and before you make your toile
Golden rule sleeves are better fit than most standard sewing patterns because there is more ease in the cap and there is more necessary differential front to back. This book mentions why. Another thing that should be mentioned is that the radial grading system will cause the grain line to be at a different angle than the original small scale draft, and the pattern should be rotated to reflect this using the new grainline for center front or back. It should also be mentioned that large women's sizes have more built-in ease than standard (approx 4 cm) and this can also be adjusted. I was also curious about how much negative ease was built in for stretch/knit designs. I believe this book is a good starting guideline for someone with beginning-intermediate sewing skills who is new to this system.
This is a great addition to the Lutterloh system. I have not sewn clothing in many years, so it is nice to have this guide before I start on my first Lutterloh pattern drafting and sewing project.
I've been a Lutterloh fiend for a few years now, and this is the book I've been waiting for. It shows everything you need to know about construction with clear pictures and well-written text. I will just need to keep it out when I'm sewing instead of a few books and YouTube on the computer. It's well constructed on quality paper that's thicker than that of many other books. I haven't had a chance to dive into the book as yet. i just browsed it but I love how easy it is to read. I can't wait to get busy using it along with my ruler.

I already have some of the information in this book scattered among various resources, but I really like having it all available in one book along with the new (to me) information.
I find this book very useful. I wish that I’ve had it 20 years ago when I bought the system, it would’ve helped me put garments together far quicker than it took me but now I have this book I am enjoying using the latter system in the right order of assembly in the garment.

The Essential of the Golden Rule is an excellent and much-needed guide for reference and tips on how to use the Lutterloh system. We purchased two: one for a beginner/intermediate sewer and one for an experienced sewer. For the former sewer, a course or two would be needed to use the Lutterloh system and The Essential of the Golden Rule guidebook or help from the experienced sewer.
