You measured yourself carefully, bought the right size, cut precisely — and the garment still doesn't fit. Gaping necklines, tight busts, waists in the wrong place. It's not your sewing. It's the pattern.
The standard-body problem
Commercial patterns are graded from one fit-model per brand. Every size is a scaled copy of that single body. But real bodies don't scale uniformly: two people with the same bust measurement can need completely different shoulder widths, back lengths and waist positions. A "size 42" is a statistical fiction.
Why alterations only get you halfway
Full bust adjustments, petite adjustments, grading between sizes — alteration techniques exist because the base pattern was never yours. Each adjustment shifts other seams, so experienced sewers routinely make two or three muslins before cutting good fabric. That's hours of work per pattern, every time.
The alternative: patterns drafted from YOUR measurements
